Featured IPO CD Artist: The Starfire Band

IPO Vol 20 CD Song: “Treat Me Bad”

1) What was the reason you chose the song you did for the IPO CD?

I chose “Treat Me Bad” a song I wrote a few years ago influenced by my appreciation for “Roy Orbison”.

2) If you could play your dream gig, which other three to four artists would be on the bill with you? They can be living, defunct, or dead.

Eric Carmen, John Lennon and Marshall Crenshaw.

3) Which artists are you/your band most inspired by?

The Beatles (#1), Rasberries, Marshall Crenshaw & Cheap Trick.

4) What is your favorite part about playing IPO and/or being on the IPO CD?

Getting the opportunities to perform original music and no covers. Also, being part of the IPO family with adding a track to the CD. It is an honor to be part of great “powerpop” band around the world. Can’t wait till next year….

5) How can people who fall in love with your song on the IPO CD get more of your music and find out about any gigs you’re playing?

The “Livin’ In The City” CD available on Amazon and iTunes. But, they can check out songs on www.reverbnation.com or www.sonicbids.com

IPO Vol 20 CD Song: “Decline of America”

1) What was the reason you chose the song you did for the IPO CD?

I chose “Decline of America” because it has a tension all it’s own. I haven’t written a song like it and it doesn’t sound like any artist I know of. The lyrics are a timeless struggle and the chord progression and guitar strumming are infectious.

2) If you could play your dream gig, which other three to four artists would be on the bill with you? They can be living, defunct, or dead.

Beatles, Big Star & The Shins.

3) Which artists are you/your band most inspired by?

My songwriting is mainly inspired by Ray Davies, old and new.

4) What is your favorite part about playing IPO and/or being on the IPO CD?

The amazing global talent from bands I’ve never heard of, expanding my knowledge and inspiring me to push the boundaries.

IPO Vol 20 CD Song: “Pockets”

1) What was the reason you chose the song you did for the IPO CD?

“Pockets” was the lead single and opening track from our debut album, “The Buca Bus”, and it received quite a lot of airplay on Danish radio, so we figured it would make sense to use it for this, too.

2) If you could play your dream gig, which other three to four artists would be on the bill with you? They can be living, defunct, or dead.

John, Paul, George and Ringo!

3) Which artists are you/your band most inspired by?

Again The Beatles come to mind, but also bands like XTC, Crowded House, Oasis, The Beach Boys and probably multiple more have been a huge influence on us.

4) What is your favorite part about playing IPO and/or being on the IPO CD?

Just getting to play at the legendary Cavern Club at all was quite special for us, all of us being massive Beatles fans. To play there on a Friday and Saturday night to a completely packed club just made it even more awesome. But not just that. Getting to see, hear, and meet all these other cool bands from all over the world, was quite an extraordinary experience as well, and definitely something we’re not used to back home!

5) How can people who fall in love with your song on the IPO CD get more of your music and find out about any gigs you’re playing?

Should someone want “The Buca Bus” CD I know Kool Kat sells it, along with our EP “Type Your Text Here”. It’s all on iTunes as well as various streaming services like Spotify, too. To find out where we’re playing the easiest thing to do is follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/CaperClowns/ where we always make sure to keep everyone posted on everything.
