Aimless Ambition – Catapulting onto the Scottsdale/Phoenix scene with electrifying lead vocals, shredding guitar solos and complex harmonies, led by the thundering rhythms of Victor Sese, who is quickly making a name as one of the premier drummers in the Valley, the five teen members of Aimless Ambition are exciting fans with their energy-infused covers of everyone from Foo Fighters to Pearl Jam as well as original music buzzing with the unique, youthful edge that defines their sound. Come check out them out before they’re a household name!
The Breakup Society – If you like Elvis Costello, The Replacements, The Beatles, or Cheap Trick (and what self-respecting powerpop fan doesn’t ?!), then you will love The Breakup Society! Their latest album, So Much Unhappiness, So Little Time…, will appeal to long-time fans and new converts alike. IPO is proud to welcome back one of the premier power pop bands from Phoenix….or anywhere, for that matter!
Cait Brennan – A singer-songwriter with a unique brand of glitter glam soulful rock n’ roll sung straight from the heart. Plus, you gotta love anyone who can channel Roy Orbison, Elton John, Freddy Mercury, John Lennon, and Etta James in the space of a single set! Her latest album, Third, the follow up to the critically acclaimed Debutante, was recorded at the legendary Ardent Studios in Memphis, and was released last year on Omnivore Records to equally stunning reviews!
Cheap Hotels – Inspired by groups like The Libertines and The Velvet Underground, the band records warm, organic lo-fi rock songs in bedrooms and living rooms. After three years of playing across Arizona and two well-received EP’s, they have just released their debut full-length album, Late Last Night. Driven by the band’s affection for classic rock LPs and focus on songcraft, the album includes includes ten never-before-released garage-rock tunes, featuring the band’s trademark jangly guitars, peppy beats, and tuneful melodies.
Fuqua – Fans of Cait Brennan (see above) may recall Fuqua as her long-time drummer, before he moved away to seek his fate outside the Phoenix area. Well now he’s back as a singer/songwriter in his own right, and IPO is glad to have him! Expect quirky, soulful, poppy goodness that will make your ears (and hearts) glad!
The Glides – Known for their electrifying live shows and dance party atmosphere, The Glides perform a brand of music that can best be described as alternative retro-groove. The band seamlessly juggles elements of dancehall, blues, punk, grunge, indie, and a taste of retro ‘50s rock to create their eclectic sound. The title track off their recently released album, Go Go Go, premiered on Phoenix Fox 10 last summer, and has been adopted as the official theme song of Tommy Rasmussen and the #92 racing team. Pretty cool!
Alex Mullins – After a year and a half run with Alex Mullins & The Royal, Mullins ventured into his solo career to explore his folk, soul and funk influences with modern pop music, and is currently in the midst of beginning his debut EP. Fans of artists such as Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, The Lumineers and Ed Sheeran will want to check him out!
Carol Pacey and The Honey Shakers – Originally from the East Coast, Pacey moved out west and became enamored with what Arizona and Mexico had to offer. Her uncommonly upbeat songs blend Americana’s mix of folk, alt-country and rock ‘n roll, with a touch of the desert rock style of her adopted home. She brings it all to her shows with enthusiasm, ease and pure joy, so come check her out now, and while there, pick up a copy of the band’s latest album, Eyes On The Prize!
Serious Play – Originally formed in 2007, Serious Play is a five member band performing original rock/pop/blues music. Their goal is to infuse their own personalities into the music, creating a unique style in each song. They continue to evolve in creating new harmonies, lyrics, and instrumentation, for an unparalleled style of music.
Sleepwar – Utilizing lush synthesizer soundscapes, Sleepwar produces a sound that is both familiar yet unique, pushing indie-rock to another level by combining new wave and synth-pop influence with lyrics speaking to addiction, recovery and the inherent struggles of modern life. Fans of the five-piece rock outfit have likened their music to that of Tame Impala, the Killers, Coldplay, Imagine Dragons and Local Natives. Check out their recently released debut EP, When We Were!

Brian Jones Was Murdered – IPO is proud to bring Bakerfield’s classic punk-pop quartet to Phoenix, hot off their reunion at IPO LA last year! Their debut album, Death of a Popstar!, was released on Sparkletone in 1997 (and made available by the band as a re-issue last summer), and draws on influences such as The Jam, The Buzzcocks, The Plimsouls and The Beatles, but they’re even better when seen live as their in-your-face vocals really hit you…in your face, so don’t miss them!
