IPO Vol 20 CD Song: “Penelope Please”

1) What was the reason you chose the song you did for the IPO CD?

Well, thanks to you David for requesting “Penelope Please” to be included on the compilation! I’m very grateful you did and I think it’s the best power pop tune I ever wrote. It’s a good representation of a Midwestern band being influenced by ‘60s psychedelic pop, and ‘70s classic power pop.

2) If you could play your dream gig, which other three to four artists would be on the bill with you? They can be living, defunct, or dead.

The Knack, Cheap Trick & The Rutles!

3) Which artists are you/your band most inspired by?
&nbsp:
A couple of local Chicago area power pop bands: Off Broadway, Pezband. The Knack, Cheap Trick & The Raspberries.

4) What is your favorite part about playing IPO and/or being on the IPO CD?

Just being part of carrying on the tradition of the power pop genre is very important to us. The chance for our music to be heard by power pop enthusiasts all over the world and being included with so many other great power pop bands is really quite an honor!

5) How can people who fall in love with your song on the IPO CD get more of your music and find out about any gigs you’re playing?

IPO Vol 20 CD Song: “Just Another Day”

1) What was the reason you chose the song you did for the IPO CD?

“Just Another Day” was our first single and is a good introduction to the Diamond Hands Universe.

2) If you could play your dream gig, which other three to four artists would be on the bill with you? They can be living, defunct, or dead.

Today I’d love to do a show with The Lemon Twigs, those kids are amazing! Back in the mid ‘60s it’d have been nice to open a show for The Leaves and/or The Byrds.

3) Which artists are you/your band most inspired by?

The Kinks.

4) What is your favorite part about playing IPO and/or being on the IPO CD?

We are primarily a recording project and don’t play live so the opportunity to put a band together and perform some of the songs for the first time was way awesome.
